Privacy Notice
This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for the website of Urban Decanter, Forest Grove, Oregon. This privacy notice applies to information collected by this website. Really, it’s pretty simple. We use the information you willingly give us to accomplish what you ask us to do with said information. That’s it. It’s just you and us.
First of all, Urban Decanter is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We only have
access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone. You are our patron and we don’t intend to share you. You’re too cool. Others don’t deserve you.
We will use your information to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to ship an order. Wouldn’t a privacy policy be pretty stupid if you gave us your number to call you and then we were policy-bound NOT to call you? That would be just dumb!
Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about specials, new products or services, or changes to this privacy policy. Say, you order a fantastic limited-edition wine and a year later, we find we can get our hands on some more, sure, we might call you to tip you off….we mean it as customer service, not as an invasion of your privacy.
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do so at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number given on our website. Sadly, if you discover you don’t like us, you are forced to talk to us this one last time to tell us to leave you alone.
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. We handle wine so we understand storing precious things carefully.
We do not conduct sales on our website so please, please, please, PLEASE do not submit credit card numbers or other super-sensitive information to us over the contact-us form or over email. We will handle those transactions by voice over the phone or in person. That said, we’ll never call you completely unexpectedly–it will relate to a conversation you remember or a transaction you are presently making. If you get a call from “us” and are suspicious, hang up and dial our business phone number to assure you that you are talking to us and not someone pretending to be us.
Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, placing an order for a particular wine you’re asking us to acquire, making event space reservations, or posting a funny picture of Jill you sent to us) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we may store received messages from you that include your name, phone number, address or most favorite wine preferences are kept in a secure environment.
If you feel that we are not abiding by this privacy policy, please talk to us by email or telephone. We care about our customers very personally so if we need to improve some things, we want you to tell us!
